Visa for Bali
Most nationalities can enter Indonesia on a paid visa on arrival. Here's what it costs, how long it lasts, and how to extend it.

Which visa do you need?
e-VOA (recommended)
Apply online 2–7 days before arrival via the official Indonesian immigration e-visa portal. Skip the airport queue and pay by card in advance.

The whole process takes about 10–15 minutes online. Do it 2–7 days before you fly.
Create an account on the official portal
Go to the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration's official e-visa portal (search "Indonesia e-visa" and confirm the domain ends in imigrasi.go.id) and register with your email. Several look-alike sites rank in search results and charge a hidden markup.
Upload your documents
You'll need a passport photo page scan (valid 6+ months from arrival), a passport-style photo, and proof of onward or return travel within 30 days.
Pay online
IDR 500,000 (~USD 32), payable by card or a handful of local e-wallets. You'll get a QR code by email — save it offline in case you land without signal.
Scan and go
At Ngurah Rai (DPS) or another Indonesian port of entry, scan your QR code at the e-gate or show it to the immigration officer. No separate queue or extra form needed.
Before you fly
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date, with at least one blank page.
Onward ticket
Immigration can ask for proof of onward or return travel booked within your visa's 30-day window.
Do this early
Apply for the e-VOA at least 48 hours before your flight — same-day approval isn't guaranteed.
Avoid third-party sites
Only use the official immigration e-visa portal. Look-alike sites charge inflated "service fees" for the same visa.

Overstaying isn't just a fine past 60 days
Overstays beyond 60 days are treated as a criminal matter under Indonesian immigration law, not just an administrative fine — expect possible detention, deportation at your own cost, and a ban on re-entry. If you've lost track of your visa dates, sort it out with an immigration agent before your flight rather than at the airport.
