Cash, cards & tipping

Cash (IDR) is still expected at warungs, markets, temples and scooter rentals. Cards are widely accepted at hotels, resorts and larger restaurants. Withdraw from bank-branded ATMs (BCA, Mandiri) where possible — standalone tourist-area ATMs often carry high fees.

Tipping isn't obligatory but is appreciated: round up taxi/Grab fares, leave IDR 10,000–20,000 for a massage therapist, and 5–10% at restaurants without a service charge already added.
